He was one of the Meccan Quraysh leaders who vehemently opposed Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and Islam. ![]() The surah is about Prophet Muhammad’s uncle, Abd al-ʿUzzā ibn ʿAbd al-Muttalib (more popularly nicknamed Abu Lahab). Still his wealth and status would not aid him on that day. Meaning: Abu Lahab was one the the Prophet’s richest uncles and one of Qurayshi leaders. It is titled in English, The Disbelievers and composed of 6 verses. “His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.” Surah Kafirun (Arabic text: ) is the 109th Surah of the Qur’an. Transliteration: Inna aAAtayna kaal kawthar Fa salli li rabbika wanhar Inna shani-aka huwa al-abtar Translation: Indeed, We have granted you, O Muhammad, al-Kawthar.
